After titanium was proven for its biocompatibility and applied to dentistry with dental implants, classic prosthetic methods of replacing a missing teeth changed by using dental implant. Since 1994 our department introduced dental implant to many of the patients with various ages, sex, shapes of edentulous ridge, medical and local problems. This clinical research from March, 1994 to May, 2003 analyzed 1033 implants in 417 patients at Kangdong Sacred Hospital, Hallym University and the cases were classified into types, shapes, lengths, widths, time of 2nd surgery and to time of prosthesis applied. Also we studied success rate of dental implant and causes of failure.
